Worst. IHOP. ever. The service was average but we left regretting eating there. The food was sub-par, even for an IHOP. We knew what we were ordering but it was bland, and not cooked well. bad decision.

Very slow service and manager is not kind. Ihop is one of my favorite restaurant but this location is too bad, dont go

Very poor service and management. New management I guess. 20 min to be seated even though lots of tables appeared available. 30 min to just take the order. Then after almost another 30 min the waiter came back saying he lost our order. Horrendous!! The manager who was also serving came round apologizing but you can see he didn't mean any of it when he said, we thought you finished with the food. What an idiot! All this time the table wasn't even cleaned. We asked for it a few times and did it ourselves in the end. Then the food was served with missing parts of the order. We came in for breakfast. Left after lunch having breakfast. Dont go if any of your plans is to have a decent time with family. Go elsewhere. Honest!!

This location is one of the better ones in the chain. There has been a bit of staff turnover lately, but those who are there now perform well, are pleasant, and friendly. Some of the best items, oddly, are the dinners. Try the Tillappia Florentine or the "French" Post roast. The downside is that these items are all over $10 now.

Terrible is the best description for this establishment. Cold food, no place setting, condiments, etc.

We were seated quickly. Our server Hansol was very friendly and got our order right. Food came out fast and restaurant was clean. Great customer service

Party in front of us needed 5 seats, idiot sat them at a table for 4. We are a party of 6, same idiot tried sitting us at table for 4? Really, how can you get a job if you can't count??? Place is also very steamy, turn on the damn air conditioning

Not a 24 hour shop as advertised on their website ( and on their doors)! It's 10:30 and the doors are locked! They just picked up the phone and then hung up without saying a word, as I was calling to confirm the hours! I didn't even get to speak! FAIL!!!!

Poor service. Both servers were hiding out and were uninterested. Forgot to bring our drinks and to ask after our food arrived. No silverware or napkins. Food had no taste. Would not return.

Our server was pleasant. The pancakes were okay and the place was clean. Not as up to date as other locations. The service was fast but paying took Sheila. Not to much just your average IHOP.

In high school, iHop would be my go-to place for a late night bite. It was consistent: always open with friendly service and mediocre food. Every single time I've tried to eat here since 2009, I've ended up either walking out after an awkward thirty minutes standing at the door, waiting to be acknowledged, even though the restaurant was completely empty - or I've gotten physically sick from the food. There have been times where I absolutely had to settle for this place, hoping there would be a different outcome. Nope. Extremely and painfully slow service, horrible food, and a lot of waiting around in the meantime. Last week was my most recent (and last) close encounter with this place. I gave them a call at around 11:00pm to see if I could pick up an order. The phone rang for about seven minutes and then went to a voicemail. I called right back and got the same result (or lack thereof). This place should just be shut down already. Very poor management, awful service, terrible food. Just tear the place down and set up a restaurant that will actually serve and respect its customers.

This place literally is really bad. Waited 10 minutes to get water and been waiting for food for almost 30-40 minutes. Still waiting for it. They need more employees. I don't see my waiter anywhere. My god.... This place sucks.....

I wish I had read these reviews before I decided to show up It was hot, stuffy and humid There were 4 tables occupied, never a good sign Ordered pancakes with bacon and Pepsi. Bacon bunrt and charred,Pepsi was way too syrupy. Oh and we did did not have any silverware or napkins. Owner has known for weeks about the malfunctioning beverage machine and apparently doesn't care. I actually found the whole situation funny since I will NEVER go back and its textbook on how not to run a business

This is one of the WORST IHOP's in the country... The food (when it arrives) is usually good. The problem is service... OR lack thereof. This is NOT the failure of the wait staff. It is definitely a management problem. This store never has enough servers. If you are lucky they will have 2 to cover the whole place. It is the lack of service killing this location. If they want to get better, they need to hire more staff... That will drive sales.... Cutting staff has hurt sales, service, cleanliness and everything else....

Seriously, waiting for the food for over 38 minutes. I would never come back here with my family.

Every time I've gone I've had nice servers but slowwww. I attribute this to busy hours with breakfast. The food was always consistent and good.

Very slow service, but I'll give it to our server for trying. The other day we had dinner At the-slowest-place-ever which probably helped my patience at iHop. Their pancakes just aren't as good as I remembered though. Maybe it's because I haven't had IHOP in so long. I also haven't had anything decadently sweet in a long time too, and this place just wasn't worth the calories. Their coffee tastes worse than what I make at home too! At least it's cheap here.

Absolutely the worst service of any restaurant in the area. Last week we went there, placed our order and nothing. The waiter came back once and said our order should be right up. I kept wondering why other people who came in after us were being getting their food before us. At 20 minutes later, the waiter came to us asking what we had ordered--because the cook didn't have the order printout because the printer in the kitchen had run out of tape. Then the manager comes by to apologize. At this point, most restaurants would offer to comp the meal, but not this cheap outfit. One thing positive I will say is that when we finally received our meal about 5 minutes later, it was the hottest meal we've ever gotten there--since every meal is usually lukewarm. The reason we have gone there is for convenience and the buy-one/get-one coupon, but no more. We've had with this place and won't go back.

  • Gregory B.

You don't want to go here. No details. It is easily the most filthy and disgusting restaurant we have ever frequented. The management is straight out of the Addam's family. For this price, you can get a better breakfast absolutely anywhere else.

  • Sara N.

Slowest service ever, no one greeted us or took our order. I had to call over a random server who was inexplicably rude and unwelcoming. She then proceeded to refuse to complete our order because we didn't want two strips of bacon with our combo order and she was too stupid to simply replace it with another side. We aren't eating here again and I'm debating speaking to the manager after our meal. Perhaps a call to corporate headquarters will encourage this location to employ people with more than double digit IQs. And why haven't we got our drinks yet? It's been over twenty minutes and we don't even have water!

    (1)
  • Mary Shobee H.

Slow service. It took over 20 mins to take our order & over 30 mins to receive our order. When I confronted the staff & manger...they didn't apologize for the slow service but just gave me an excuse on why they were slow. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!

  • Nataliya A.

I love their hot chocolate, but everything else I could live without. The service is so darn slow no matter how busy they are! I know that it shouldnt take over 30 minutes to fry an egg, put together a simple salad or pour me a cup of hot chocolate. It may be the international house of pancakes but I find nothing special in their selection or taste, I can make better ones myself. The bathrooms seem to be filthier everytime, ever heard of cleaning products or mopping floors? I don't think that they have. The only reason I visit it lately is because it is open so late and satisfies late night munchies.

Just had our lunch in this location. Hair in my crepe. It would have been a 1 star if not for Gizzel, our server who did a great job addressing the issue. Actually, I liked her from the moment we walked in. Nice personality. She deserved a 5 star.

I wish I cold give this place zero stars! My boyfriend and i received service we have never seen in our lives. I get its not a four star restaurant but they need to have some sort of customer service and edict. It all started when it took 10 minutes to get our drink order and our server had to ask us twice what we wanted because apparently remembering two drink orders is difficult. We both ordered food and then also ordered an item to go as well as a cheesecake. My boyfriend had soup come with his entree and waited again over 15 minutes for his soup. I received my food before he even received his soup. I ordered a chicken sandwich which they made me the wrong chicken sandwich, but at that point i was starving because it had almost been a half hour that we ordered our food. My boyfriend got his soup which looked like had been sitting in the heat lamp for a good five minutes or so. He then received his entree which was quite cold but again we didn't say anything because we were both starving. It took about another 15 minutes before she came to our table to inform us my to go order was ready but his was not and would be up shortly. I then over heard our server in the back of the kitchen that they need to make a New York Style pancakes. The cooks responded they didn't know what was in it which just boggled my mind. Our server then proceeded out of the kitchen and got a menu and recited what was in the pancakes. I turned to my boyfriend and said this is a complete joke they didn't even make your food. My boyfriend went up to sadly who suppose to be a manager. We told her our issue and did not address the problem or apologize. Instead ran away which again never seen anything like this in my life. My boyfriend and I are both in the hospitality industry and we were just stunned at the lack of customer service, and how poorly the staff treats their customers. After waiting another 15 minutes we finally got up and approached the girls at the counter demanding to speak to the manager about refunding us for the pancakes and cheesecake we were still waiting for. The server snarly responded "yeah we can't do that!" We both looked at one another in disbelief like we were speaking a different language to this girl. We then asked to speak to the manager and that's when I had enough. She said the manager had left which was a bold faced lie because the manager ran into the kitchen when she saw us get up to complain again about not receiving our food. This little girl then snapped at me with this attitude that she didn't know what to tell us. My boyfriend said he wanted his receipt and she said she didn't know where it was and she couldn't help us. Our server then popped out and put what we thought was our whole order and of course she was gone in seconds. At that point what was suppose to be a quick dinner and then home to watch a movie turned into almost a 3 hour horrible experience. We ended up walking out without our whole entire order. I have gotten better service at McDonald's that's how bad the service was. They need to fire that entire staff and get management that knows what they're doing.

I like the place for a quick bite to eat and it's great that it is open at odd hours. Pancakes, not so good. Omelettes are really good and they have recently added some new items. Always crowded on the weekend so we always check with the host if the sit out is available. Service is painfully long on weekends.

TOTALLY WTF WAITRESS! Place is clean enough (no complaints), food wasn't too bad, though not quite "good"; my boyfriend's order was very yummy brioche, but the eggs and hash browns were terrible and bacon was medium. (My order was a very stuffed omlet and the problem thing.). The waitress was very nice at first, except that she said "Are you ready to order?" twice, once within 60 seconds of entering and once after we had just said, "We'll just order this specialty drink only right now." That was easily overlooked because she was still very nice and did not try to do something stupid like ask "How's your day?" or some shit. But then she turned out to be THE MOST MESSED UP WAITER IN HISTORY. As the side to my omlet, I paid $1.39 EXTRA to have cheesecake pancakes, described "with cheesecake bites," only to have NO CHEESECAKE in or near my pancakes! So I told the waitress, a blond around 11 p.m., that there was no cheesecake on it! I SHOWED HER, moved the strawberries on top around so she could see every part and that there is no cheesecake, and ripped a large part of the pancake off horizontally so she can see inside. Then, she goes to the back and tells the preparation man, "I don't know, that's what she said," NO BITCH, I ALSO SHOWED YOU, and "She's crazy.". Even though I fucking showed it to her. WHAT THE FUCK. NO FUCKING TIP, WHY ARE YOU LYING ABOUT THINGS?! Except that my boyfriend likes to tip all the horrible, douchey waitresses anyway so she got 75¢, because even he was mad (of course)! Then, instead of just bringing the cheesecake bites, she has a whole 'nother plate cooked, so that I have to wait another half an hour to eat my inlet and let it get cold, plus have really warm pancakes instead of the nice temperature pancakes that I already had! The only good part is that she didn't take the old plate (which of course had a few bites from it because how else would I know there is no cheesecake), which is really stupid when they do because they're only going to throw it out anyway.

I came in with a party of nine for a late brunch on a Sunday. It took more than 35 minutes to be seated only after complaining several times that everyone else who came in was seated before us. Waitress was nice, but service was awful. She didn't come to refill our drinks or check on us until food finally came out 45 minutes later. When the food finally did arrive, 7 of our meals were stone cold. Only 1 was luke warm and the 9th hot, warm and inviting. It was a disaster. I will never go back. When we had them touch the food themselves, they offered 20% off the ticket. In the end, no one ate and we had to pay for the worst experience I've ever had eating anywhere all over the US. We called the home office and they didn't seem to care either. IHOP? You are making Denny's look good.

  • Mike S.

I've been coming to this IHOP a lot with my friends over the years, and we never had any problems with it. But the past couple of years, we've all been away at school, so the only time we've been able to go back here is during holiday breaks. Unfortunately, this is when I noticed how bad the place has become. The late night staff used to be the best. Always having a good time with the customers while making sure they were doing their job efficiently. Everyone loved the old waiters. The management recently hired a completely new staff for the late night shift, and it is literally the worst staff around. I could write a 10 page paper detailing the bad things I've experienced here with the new staff in the past 3 months, but it's not worth my time. Here are a few of my favorites though: -My friends and I put our food order in with a waiter and waited for 30 minutes for it to finally come out (how long does it take to cook a f****** egg?!). When it finally comes out, half of our orders are wrong. We would tell the waiter about the mistakes with our order, but she was busy chatting away with some guys at the only other occupied table in the restaurant... for 10 minutes. Okay, so we finally got our order corrected, and then we were ready to ask for the bill. We literally had to get up and look around the store for the waiter because she was MIA. Of course she was up in the front bench, talking it up with her friend that was visiting. Look, I know you're really lazy, but they must pay you to do something, right? We all thought it was an off night for IHOP. -We came back and put our food order in with a different waiter and then waited a good 40 minutes for our food to finally come out. We would have asked the waiter where the food was earlier, but like his new co-workers, he was MIA between the time when he gave us our drinks (approx. 5 minutes after ordering) and when we got our food. The food was ice cold as expected. The eggs were dark yellow and my friend's biscuits and gravy had actually hardened over. It was obvious that the food had been ready like 20 minutes before we actually got it. The really frustrating part was that once again, we were one of the only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant... Come on... Honestly, what are you guys doing back there?? We knew the service was horrendous now, but once that bad service affects the quality of the food, then there's no other reason to come back. -My friends and I decided to give place one more shot, since we've been going here for years and would hate to stop. But the final time we stepped into this IHOP, we didn't even have to deal with the long waits for food or the jokes that work there. We were actually told to leave... Here's the conversation I had with one of the waiters, and I'm not making this up: Me: Hi W: Hi, we're actually really busy tonight for some reason (a little less than half the store is full at this point). Me: Uh, okay, so how long is it going to take to get food? W: Yeah, I don't know. You should probably just go somewhere else. Yeah, we did go somewhere else, and we are never coming back to that shithole. I would recommend that you all decide to follow the advice the waiter gave too. Now that I think about it, after this entire summer, I don't even know if these people actually work there at all. They are honestly so clueless about how to wait tables. It's not rocket science guys. In all, this place has changed. It's not the same warm IHOP that we all used to love years ago. I will not be giving them any more of my business and will instead be going to Denny's. Sorry it had to end this way.

I used to go all the time, at least once a week, until a few years ago when I had a horrific experience and haven't gone back since. I ordered a salad--I don't even remember what kind. Everything was fine until I took a bite halfway through and felt a huge CRUUUUNCH between my teeth. It was too loud and hard for anything that was in my salad, and I thought maybe I'd chipped a tooth by accident? I reached in my mouth and pulled out a small fragment of glass. I was so shocked that I didn't even get upset right away. My husband, sitting across from me, looked horrified and immediately got the attention of our server. She was rude, and argued with us about the glass having been there in the first place. She seemed to be insinuating that we'd put it there ourselves to cause a problem. Then we asked to speak to her manager, who apologized for our server's rudeness, but insisted that we needed to pay our bill and leave. We went back and forth with the manager, but he wouldn't budge on his decision. My husband at this point lost his temper and began yelling at the manager, attracting the attention of everyone in the restaurant. He yelled about their audacity to make us pay for a meal that could have seriously injured me had I swallowed the glass. Once he threatened legal action, the manager finally agreed to give me MY meal for free, but still demanded that my husband pay for his meal or he would call the police. We finally gave in. My husband paid for his meal and we never returned to this sorry excuse for a restaurant again. I might have given them another chance despite the glass if they had at least been better about treating us, their once loyal customers, with respect. Beware.

We met a friend and her daughter here because it was the only place her kid would eat. Who the hell puts flour in their omelettes????????I guess it makes them easier to fold but then they're nasty and dry. The only thing here worth eating was the pancakes. You don't get a choice of dressing on the side if you order a lunch salad, it's all mixed in. I guess they can do it if it's a garden salad but not an entree salad? The cigarette haze was nauseating. We did have a good time laughing at the kid way in back who looked like Napoleon Dynamite.

it's IHOP, what do you expect!? I've been to different IHOPs and they are all about the same. Nothing fancy. This place is clean and I don't feel like I would get food poisoning from here. I like their pumpkin pancakes when they're in season it's probably my favorite thing on the menu. The food is generally average, and I like that they don't charge you for every modification to your order and they don't charge you extra for egg whites, that's a bonus. As a surprise their chicken sandwich is pretty good, it's moist not dry like most places. I always laugh when you get the food, it's always nothing like the picture on the menu..haha it's just plopped on a plate or multiple plates in disarray, but hey, it's IHOP, what do you expect?

Oh man, I went here all through my high school years. It was a popular hangout, especially when smoking was allowed. If you want good service and your food relatively soon (IE: in 10-20 minutes), don't go here. It takes FOREVER to get food, and I don't know why. It's pretty consistently slow, even when the restaurant is deserted. Yummy food, of course, but the service just blows.

Best IHOP in Lake County!! The one in Gurnee has too many flies and goofy military graduates there, the one in Waukegan on Belvidere is a lil dirty with poor attitudes. This one though is great!! A very pleasant experience each time me and my family ate here. There's a waitress there with a tattoo on her neck and above her cleavage that gives GREAT customer service and loves kids. The owner of this IHOP is super friendly and have a great memory (He remembered our conversation from the first time I ate here). It was also cool to go into a place in Libertyville/Buffalo Grove and not get the "what are you black people doing here" look that we quite often get from stores in this area(usually from the mexican/spanish/latino people). Anyways, this is a great IHOP to go to. Extra friendly and understanding staff. Great and fast food!!! Go now!!

The only reason to give one star is because they feed you when you are hungry at any time of day 24x7. The service sucks. It was okay till 2010. I go to this location since 2007. After 2010, I saw it going down on grade with each and every visit. The place is run by all kids in teens. Most of them specially girls have too much attitude. Feels as if they are forced to work. On my last visit, I was given cold drink in two separate plastic containers as they did not have bigger ones. In addition, they did not have any container holder. I had to put the cups in polythene bag and carry them. Definitely not expected from any business. Overall appearance of the place has gone down with the service. I have not seen more than two tables occupied in multiple visits of mine to pick up the order. Guys at IHOP, do something and bring your golden days back.

Seriously the worst service ever. Do not ever recommend coming at night - it is a joke, Last time I tried to order for pick up at night I was told that they are not taking anymore orders because they were very busy... um are you serious? I do not think the night staff have any idea what they are doing.. not to mention any time I have walked in at night to order or dine in it took at least fifteen minutes for someone to even notice me.. tried calling ahead the next few times and no one answers the phone.

If you have a hankering for IHOP pancakes and live in Buffalo Grove or nearby - then this is the place. But that's about the only reason to go here. I've been here 2-3 times in the past few years and here's what I've experienced. * an okay breakfast, nothing to write home about * usually pleasant, but slow service regardless of how busy they are * lots of dirty tables and general disarray With other better breakfast places in the area, it's a wonder they stay open. Must be the 24 hour thing.

  • Moeed K.

Fortunately, I didn't find this location to be as bad as the other reviewer mentioned. This is your typical IHOP, and that is all you should expect. Of course if you compare it to Walker Brothers, which is far superior, then it seems pretty bad, but that's like comparing Portillos to Smash Burger.
